Poke-A-Dot Books
Children interact with print on a daily basis, through exposure to books, signs, grocery lists, letters, etc. This knowledge, combined with what they've learned about speaking and listening, help them become ready to read and write.
Did you know? Between 1-2 years, we expect children to recognize familiar books by their covers, listen to simple stories, turn pages and attend to books for ~2 minutes, label pictures independently and pretend to read.
Poke-a-Dot books are a great way to integrate book reading with littles!
They are sturdy board books with interactive buttons that "pop" on every page.
Encourage language development, color recognition, and fine motor skills, in addition to emergent literacy skills.
Use of simple language with usually one word on each page.
Gesture imitation- a stepping stone for word imitation!
